College Ball

The NCAA limits the number of baseball scholarships to 11.7 per team. (Just in case you are wondering, women's rowing can offer 20 scholarships per team and football gets 85.) For example, if there are 30 players on a baseball team and they all receive an equal scholarship they would each receive 39% of their tuition, books, fees, and room & board.

The cost of attending CU is around $14,000 per year. The cost of attending San Diego State University is $25,542 or $15,581 on a 39% scholarship.

The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) program can provide Colorado residents reduced tuition to several out-of-state colleges. For example, the cost of attending Oregon State University would normally cost $25,961, but only $15,670 in the WUE program. Qualifying for WUE would make a baseball prospect even more attractive.

Did you know that there is a standardized strength and agility test for baseball players that is used at many baseball showcases and combines? Read about SPARQ testing.
