Scott Carpenter Park Renovation Meeting

Dear Parents and Friends of Diamond Baseball -

If you'd like to be part of the Scott Carpenter Park Renovation Team there will be an informational meeting held at Boulder High on Thursday, November 20th, from 7 to 9 PM in the Boulder High School auditorium. Many of you whose sons use the SCP field know that it's fallen into relative disrepair. Among the priority needs are new sod and dirt for the infield and re-seeding for the outfield, a new irrigation system, new fencing and lighting, new dugouts, scoreboard and maintenance equipment. Also, the field was constructed during the wood-bat era, with outfield dimensions to match. It's 30 to 40 feet shorter than the average field of our competition.

The DBOB board has been working with the City of Boulder on a plan to address these needs. In general what's envisioned is a cooperative agreement that results in a win-win-win situation for the City of Boulder, DBOB and BVSD and the Boulder Community. There is strong initial support but more work needs to be done - and we're looking for help from interested people like you.

Here are some of the areas where we need your help:

· Develop flier/hand-out material to support fundraising
· Develop/organize donor acknowledgements (donor bricks, plaque, etc)
· Coordinate BHS alumni mailing
· Develop/manage donor target list
· Contact potential donor organizations/individuals

If your son is in the BHS and/or Legion Ball program this is an opportunity to have a direct impact on the quality of the facility he uses through the remainder of his high school career. If you're now in the Bisons or North Boulder Little League, this field is right around the corner for you (speaking as two parents of BHS Juniors who it seems like only yesterday were playing at the Iris field complex.)

Please attend if you can, and invite as many of your interested friends as possible.

If you can't make it, please don't hesitate to contact either of us for more information about how you can help.

Sincerely,

Eric Harman,
President Diamond Baseball of Boulder

The rate is $45 per night. The rooms have two doubles so we could get four kids in a room. It is a pretty nice place with a pool, indoor jacuzzi, sauna, and fitness center.
